FASTT Math
FASTT Math develops fluency with basic math facts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It uses the research-validated FASTT system (Fluency and Automaticity through Systematic Teaching with Technology). FASTT Math automatically differentiates instruction and practice based on each child's individual fluency level in customized, 10-minute daily instructional sessions.
The importance of fluency in math facts
In its report “Foundations for Success” (2008), the National Math Panel emphasized the importance of developing automatic recall of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts in order to adequately prepare for algebra and beyond.
Differentiated instruction and monitored progress
Before his or her initial training session each student undergoes a brief assessment to uncover fluency gaps and to establish a baseline of fluency. FASTT Math then features ongoing assessment that ensures students receive instruction on only the math facts they are struggling with. The program automatically paces and customizes the instruction and practice so each child is appropriately challenged.
